I decided to start a blog because I want to share my thoughts with the world. Not that I am an expert in anything, far from it. Not scientific methods or any similar things. I’m just a woman that has things to say, that has been in tough situations and have overcome them. Sharing what has worked for me. Just that.
When I decided to start the blog, never crossed my mind all the things involved with it. First time doing anything like this. Starting a blog was not an easy task but that didn’t discourage me from doing it. In a matter of days, I had it up and running. Learned the basics as I went on. I am still learning!
Enter here the part: if I can do it YOU can do it too!
Everyone has a life story worth telling (sharing). You may not think of it as a big deal. That is because you are living it. The truth is, no matter how small or big your story is… it will help someone out there. Someone that is going through a similar situation as you are/did.
I read a tweet the other day that got me thinking. It said some stories are not that great or as great as the teller think they are. A story may not be as grand as compared to other, but each story has a teaching. For small and insignificant that it may seem, there is a learning to be made out of it.
The Writing Part
Now comes the writing part. I am not a writer. How can I dare to even try to start a blog and write? Simple, start by doing. From the time I started till now, I know I have improved my writing. I can feel it. And I am feeling more confident about it. Am I a good writer? No. I’m still in the works.
I know fear can bring us to halt. Self-doubt can be our worst enemy. And then, putting ourselves out there for everyone to see us. We are vulnerable. We are at the mercy of the masses. Critics behind a screen. People that we will never meet in person, yet we dread.
Writing is our business card. When people come to our site and see our mediocre writing, most likely they will not come back. We only have one shot at it. That first impression. Terrifying isn’t it? I know. I still get my stomach in a knot every time I hit the publish button.
Not even being vulnerable discourage me from doing this. So, here I am. Ballsy? Maybe. Crazy? For sure! I already knew that. Here’s the thing. When you scroll through social media, you see many ranting about “poor me”… I know, it is their choice. But it has become a norm. My point, we all have hardships and go through bad moments in life, some for shorter or longer times than others. We all have to overcome something. We all have choices.
Those choices are the ones that make the difference. Not easy I know. Sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed, my head banging bad with a headache caused by being high all night (I have Type 1 Diabetes) and the babies calling for me. I moved past my headache to see the smiling faces of two beautiful children (twins). For a moment my headache is gone. I hold on to that moment to take head-on the day ahead.
It’s all about choices my friend.
One Day At A Time
Taking life one day at a time is a choice too. One saying I use often is “I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it”. Meaning I will worry about whatever it is whenever that moment comes, not before. And worry as in dealing with it, finding a solution.
Life, like blogging, requires patience. There is much I don’t know, but also there’s so much I know. And every day I learn something new. Every day that I work on my blog I get better, just like in life. Practice. Working hard towards a goal. Making our dreams come true.
The most rewarding thing about it is touching someone’s life and help them feel better. In the form of encouragement to help them move past the struggles, heck even if they laugh at me! (Laughter is a great medicine.) Helping each other to become our better selves should be our goal in this world.
That there, will make all the vulnerability of starting a blog worthwhile because at the end is not about me… it is about us!
